My name is Joann Koopmann.  My husband is Deacon Jerry and we have three grown married children, Wade, Renee and Karla.  We have 8 grandchildren.  Jerry and I owned and operated a dairy farm with his brother Tom and wife Helen for 40 years. We retired from farming and bought a house in Epworth.  I enjoy reading, gardening, walking and just being with family.

I received a BA in English from Mount Mercy College, but got married and raised a family shortly after graduation.  I volunteered as the Bookkeeper at St. John Placid for approximately 20 years.  After Jerry was ordained as a deacon in 1997, I enrolled in the Loras College Graduate Program and received a Masters Degree in Religious Studies in 2002.  I worked for two years as a Pastoral Associate at St. John Independence before coming to the St. Elizabeth Pastorate as part time RCIA Coordinator.  Presently I work as RCIA Coordinator, Adult Education, and MSP Coordinator for the pastorate.  I am happy and proud to be a part of all the wonderful things happening in the St. Elizabeth Pastorate.
